Some of my very first memories include jewelry. My grandmother, a world traveler and avid jewelry collector, would open her jewelry box and tell me the story of each glimmering and unusual item. She remembered the clothes she wore, the smell and sights of the city where she bought it, and the occasion of each purchase. I learned about her life and the history of her family with every story she told. Through her jewelry, I traveled the world as a child and it inspired me to travel as an adult. To this day, when I travel, I have to seek out jewelry stores to explore the creativity and history of every place I visit.
My mother also followed her mother’s tradition, weaving the story of her own life and travels into our family jewelry history. To me, jewelry is intimately tied into the lives of those who buy it, gift it and wear it. For that reason, I want my jewelry to be truly unique and long-lasting.
My metal jewelry is made of .925 sterling silver, 10K, 14K, or 18K gold, copper, vermeil (which is 14K gold over sterling silver) or any combination of these. I am a fan of making new items from old such as earrings that have lost a mate, or old rings and necklaces that are broken or no longer desired. The quality of my “reclaimed” pieces depends on materials provided. My beaded jewelry is primarily made of high quality semi-precious stones, hard-to-find vintage glass or plastic beads, authentic modern or vintage Swarovski crystal and sterling silver or vermeil beads and components. Prices vary depending on materials.
