Stained Glass Panels

I first got attracted to stained glass because I wanted to compliment my metalsmith work with glass components and designs.  I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with the medium on its own, but I did.

When I make a glass panel, I usually have a specific image or feeling that I begin with.  For instance, I might say “I want to share that amazing sunset at the lake house in Maine.”  After I get that inspiration, I then completely shut my mind off and let what ever wants to happen just happen. I don’t use patterns and I don’t have an end vision.  I just go completely organic and let it happen. It’s a fantastic free feeling that I don’t always get from any other medium I play with.

For commissioned stained glass panels, I like to get inspiration from my client’s lives by talking to them, looking at photos they share with me or by seeing their homes.  I then head to my studio to find the perfect way to give the rest of the world a small glimpse through these colorful “windows” into my client’s souls.  It’s some of my favorite work and I think everyone probably has at least one window that needs just this kind of unique sparkle!

Stained glass panels can be made in nearly any size.  They can be open or completely closed which makes them suitable for framing as windows.  The smallest panels start at 75 dollars.
